My sketchbooks are my favourite place to draw, to play, to observe from life. They are a place to draw without judgement, to try new things, new materials, make marks, write ideas. They are full of scribbles, memories and tiny moments of joy.
I have many sketchbooks, they are handmade and bought from shops, they are bits of paper, backs of envelopes and vintage books pages. I sew pages together and make folders to keep drawings in.
They are my favourite place to draw from life, to develop characters and illustrations, to make mistakes, to remember a moment in time, try new materials and design little ceramic sculptures. I play with colour and make marks and patterns.
