Ceramics
I make little ceramic sculptures and vessels exploring tiny joyful moments and thoughts in clay.
This ongoing body of work explores tiny joyful moments, the importance of retaining our curiosity and playfulness and how important play is for children and adults alike.
A series of clay sketches, drawing from childhood memories, circus, animals, moments of joy and wonder, dreams and play. They are a collection of little pieces that can stand alone or as a collection together and for the viewer to create their own story and narrative. The objects almost look like toys to be played with and which I hope inspires joy, imagination and curiosity.
I make these pieces using porcelain, stoneware, porcelain slip, underglazes, oxides, commercial and handmade clear and matte glazes. First I draw in my sketchbooks, from life and memory, things, people, animals, moments. I create little worlds and thoughts on paper that I then turn into tiny sculptures that through the process of making and firing take on a life of their own.
